Extraordinary low-dimensional materials

Synthesizing and discovering extraordinary low-dimensional materials is of importance in solid state chemistry and condensed matter physics. Low-dimensional materials exhibit unique properties that are not commonly found in conventional bulk materials, such as exceptionally high thermoelectric performance and the ability to control the negative refractive of light. The goal of our research in the low-dimensional materials is 1) to design and synthesize a novel materials to finely control their electronic and thermal transport, 2) to understand the underneath mechanism in Mott insulators, topological insulators, and superconductors, and 3) to realize their unique properties in bulk phases as well as in few-layer-scale materials.
